REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: AIRBAG SYSTEM: PRECAUTION (2008 Sequoia) .

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected INTRODUCTION: REPAIR INSTRUCTION: INITIALIZATION (2008 Sequoia) .

2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: INSTALLATION (2008 Sequoia)+

5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: STEERING PAD: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY STEERING COLUMN: STEERING WHEEL: REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

8. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column): REMOVAL (2008 Sequoia)+

9. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Disconnect the all connectors from the spiral cable with steering sensor.

NOTICE:

When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable with steering sensor.

10. REMOVE STEERING SENSOR

(a) Detach the 6 claws and remove the sensor.
